Art Hero, Mike Schmid This is my buddy, art teacher Mike Schmid of Haverhill Elementary School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. To Mike, all the world is his canvas. (Even the chair he sits on!) I've had the pleasure of working with Mike at his fantastic Foundation for Arts and Music in Education (FAME) camps. He and music teacher Dorothy Kittaka conceived of FAME as an innovative series of programs for bringing art and music education to children of all social, ethnic and economic backgrounds. At Camp Potawotami, a week-long fine arts camp, kids come together to learn a healthy appreciation of the arts amid the healthy atmosphere of summer camp.
